China is gearing up for a major leap in telecommunications as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced plans to advance 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology and initiate research and development for 6G. 🛰️✨
5G-A represents a significant evolution from traditional 5G, offering a tenfold increase in network capacity. This means higher speeds, greater connectivity, and lower latency, paving the way for more seamless digital experiences.
MIIT highlighted that the coverage of 5G and gigabit optical networks will be steadily expanded to various essential locations. These include cultural and tourist spots, medical institutions, universities, transportation hubs, and subways, ensuring that more people can benefit from ultra-fast internet.
In addition to expanding network coverage, the ministry plans to introduce policies that will accelerate the development of \"dual-gigabit\" internet. This initiative combines 5G networks with gigabit optical networks, fostering deep integration of 5G technology across different industries. 🚀🏭 This includes speeding up the construction of 5G factories and enhancing the industrial internet ecosystem.
\"We will coordinate efforts to promote the evolution of 5G-A technology, and the research, development, and innovation of 6G while deploying the ultra-high-speed optical fiber transmission technology and next-generation optical networks in advance,\" said Zhao Zhiguo, MIIT's chief engineer, during a press conference in Beijing.
Zhao also mentioned the orderly advancement of piloting the opening-up of the value-added telecom service sector, aiming to boost innovation and service quality in the telecom industry.
MIIT data reveals that 5G applications have already been integrated into 74 out of 97 key economic categories in China. Additionally, there are 30,000 virtual private networks in the 5G industry, 300 5G factories established, and over 13,000 5G+ industrial internet projects launched. 📈🔧
These initiatives underscore China's commitment to staying at the forefront of global telecommunications advancements, ensuring robust infrastructure and innovative technologies for the future.
