Cuba Calls Out New US Sanctions: “Genocidal Intent” 🇨🇺🇺🇸

Tensions Flare Up Between Havana and Washington 📉

Things are heating up again in the Caribbean. Cuba has officially voiced its outrage over new sanctions slapped on by the US, with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez not holding back on social media. 📱

The drama centers around Executive Order 14404, signed by US President Donald Trump on May 1. Under this order, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced additional measures targeting various Cuban entities and officials. While Washington presents these as strategic moves, Havana sees them as a direct attack.

Taking to X, Rodriguez claimed these latest measures confirm a "genocidal intent" against the Cuban nation. He described the sanctions as a form of "collective punishment" and argued that the US government is simply trying to impose its will on other governments through "illegitimate coercion." 🚫

When Rubio suggested that Washington's goals are actually to help the Cuban people, Rodriguez fired back, calling those claims "cynical, hypocritical and false." According to the Cuban FM, the real aim is to cause the "greatest possible damage" to ordinary Cuban families. 💔

This isn't a new fight—Cuba has been dealing with a decades-long economic, commercial, and financial embargo—but these recent moves this May have definitely turned up the volume on an already tense relationship. 🌍💬
