Things are heating up in the Horn of Africa. Sudan has officially shifted into high gear, reinforcing its military presence along the border with Ethiopia to handle escalating security concerns. 🌍
Military sources report that additional troops and heavy equipment have been deployed to strategic spots in Gedaref State—specifically in East Gallabat, Basunda, and Al-Fashaga. A state of alert is now in effect to keep a close eye on any sudden movements. 🛡️
What sparked the tension? ✈️
The buildup comes after reports that drones launched from Ethiopia's Bahir Dar Airport targeted Khartoum International Airport and other sites this past Monday. While explosions and smoke were reported, thankfully, no casualties have been confirmed.
But the drama doesn't stop at drone strikes. Sudan has also accused Ethiopia of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and training armed groups that have targeted Sudanese farmers in the Al-Fashaga region. On the other side of the border, Ethiopia has denied any involvement in these activities. 🙅♂️
The Diplomatic Fallout 💼
Sudan isn't playing around. In a strong diplomatic move, the government has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations. They've also issued a stern warning, stating they reserve the right to respond to any further aggression.
Asim Awad Abdelwahab, the spokesperson for Sudan's armed forces, made it clear: the army is fully prepared to protect national sovereignty and keep the country secure. 🇸🇩✨
