Peace in Sight? 🕊️ Trump Says US-Iran Deal is “Largely Negotiated”

Big moves are happening in the Middle East! US President Donald Trump has dropped a bombshell announcement, stating that a peace deal between the United States and Iran has been "largely negotiated." 🌍✨

Taking to Truth Social, Trump shared that the agreement is currently being finalized among the US, Iran, and other key players in the Middle East. One of the biggest highlights? Trump mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened as part of the deal. While the fine print is still being ironed out, he promised that the full details will be announced shortly. 📝

To make sure everything is on track, Trump spent Saturday catching up with Gulf and regional leaders via phone to review Iran's latest proposal. He also had a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which he described as going "very well." ✅

But is Tehran on the same page? 🤔

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is playing it a bit more cautious. During a meeting with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir in Tehran, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran's top priority is safeguarding its national interests. He didn't hold back on why there's so much tension, citing Washington's past breaches of commitments, attacks on Iran during talks, and targeted killings of officials as the reasons for widespread public mistrust. 🛡️

Pezeshkian noted that while war is never in anyone's interest and only brings losses, Iran must exercise "utmost caution" based on their history of negotiating with the US. He mentioned that Iran has relied on "brotherly relations" with friendly nations, including Pakistan, to navigate these tricky waters.

The Potential Deal-Breakers ⚠️

It's not all smooth sailing. Reports from the Fars news agency suggest that if Washington doesn't show more flexibility, these talks could still fail. Iran is reportedly standing firm on three major points:

  • Refusing to discuss its nuclear program at this stage.
  • Demanding the release of frozen assets 💰 before negotiations proceed.
  • Maintaining control and management over the Strait of Hormuz.

How did we get here? ⏳

It's been a wild ride. After fighting broke out on February 28, the US, Israel, and Iran finally reached a ceasefire on April 8. An initial attempt at peace talks in Islamabad on April 11 and 12 didn't quite work out, but over the last few weeks, Pakistan has been mediating and helping both sides exchange proposed plans to end the conflict for good.

Will this finally lead to a lasting peace? We're all watching closely! 💬🌐
