A quiet Sunday morning turned into a nightmare in Angeles City, Pampanga Province, after a building collapsed before dawn, leaving a community in shock. 🇵🇭
As of today, Monday, authorities have confirmed that four people have tragically lost their lives. While three victims were recovered from the rubble of the fallen structure, a Malaysian national staying at a nearby apartelle was also killed by falling debris. It's a devastating reminder of how quickly things can change. 😔
But there is a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy. Brave rescue teams have already saved 26 people—24 from the collapsed building and two from the adjacent apartelle. Unfortunately, ten of these survivors are currently in the hospital receiving treatment for their injuries. 🚑
The mission isn't over yet. Search and rescue operations are still in full swing as teams hunt for 17 people who are still missing. However, the job is incredibly dangerous. Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon warned that the site is currently a hazard zone, with unstable debris and live power lines threatening the safety of the emergency personnel. ⚡🚧
To keep everyone safe, nearby residents have been evacuated from the area while the experts work to stabilize the scene. Our thoughts are with the families waiting for news of their loved ones. Stay strong, Philippines. ❤️🙏
