Pakistan Says “No Thanks” to Trump’s Abraham Accords Push 🚫🇵🇰

There is some major diplomatic drama unfolding! 🍿 Pakistan has officially declined an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the Abraham Accords, the deal aimed at normalizing ties with Israel.

The tension started when President Trump took to social media with a pretty bold ultimatum. He suggested that countries currently helping mediate talks between the US and Iran—including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey—should "immediately" sign onto the Abraham Accords. The catch? If they don't join, he suggested they should stop participating in the mediation efforts altogether. 😬

Pakistan wasn't having it. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stepped up on Tuesday to make it clear that Islamabad will not join any agreement that conflicts with the country's "fundamental ideologies." Basically, it's a firm no based on their core principles. 🙅‍♂️

Wait, what are the Abraham Accords? 🤔
For those who need a quick refresher: brokered by the US back in 2020, these accords led to the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab nations, such as the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. Washington has been trying to expand this circle for years, including pushing Saudi Arabia to join before the Israel-Gaza conflict broke out in October 2023.

Trump also added a twist to his post, stating that if Washington and Tehran eventually reach a deal, Iran should be expected to join the accords as well. 🌍

With high stakes and strong ideologies on the line, it looks like the path to normalization is still a bumpy ride. Stay tuned to see how this affects the US-Iran mediation! 💬✨
