Paris is feeling the heat—and not in a good way. ☀️ As an unprecedented heatwave grips Western Europe, the city's most vulnerable residents are fighting for their lives and their right to safety.
On Wednesday, May 27, dozens of homeless people gathered in the heart of the city to send a clear message to regional administrative authorities: the need for more shelter and emergency housing is urgent 🏠.
The demonstration was led by Utopia 56 Paris, an association dedicated to advocating for the rights of migrants and vulnerable populations. They are working to highlight a dangerous misconception about homelessness during the warmer months.
"It seems like, since the weather's nice, it's pleasant to live outside. No! As many people die on the streets in summer as in winter," warned Nathan Lequeux, a coordinator at Utopia 56. 📉
The urgency is real. With temperatures hitting record highs this year, access to cool spaces and safe housing has become a matter of survival. The protestors are calling on the authorities in charge of shelter to step up and protect those who have nowhere else to go. 🌍💬✨
