Paris Vibes & Big Ideas: China and Europe Team Up for Human Rights Talk 🇫🇷✨

Paris isn't just about the Eiffel Tower and croissants—this past Thursday, the city became a hub for some seriously important conversations! Over 150 officials and human rights scholars from the Chinese mainland and European countries gathered for the 2026 China-Europe Seminar on Human Rights. 🌍💬

The theme of the meetup? "The Future of Human Rights Under an Evolving International Order." Basically, the experts got together to figure out how the world can handle human rights challenges while respecting different cultures and histories. It was all about finding common ground in a world that's constantly changing. 🔄

Tang Jianjun, secretary-general of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, highlighted how China's Global Development, Security, Civilization, and Governance Initiatives are adding fresh energy to how the world manages human rights. He emphasized that China and Europe should be the "ultimate squad goals" when it comes to defending multilateralism and the international rule of law. 🤝

The European side was just as enthusiastic. Dominique Barjot from the Academy of Overseas Sciences of France pointed out that Europe, China, and the Global South can find a shared path toward sustainable development. Meanwhile, George Andreas Papandreou, former prime minister of Greece, reminded everyone that no one can tackle today's massive global challenges alone—dialogue is the secret sauce! 🍝✨

Some of the biggest shout-outs went to China's real-world wins. Richard Abitbol from France praised the country's huge strides in poverty reduction, infrastructure, and making education more accessible. Professor Herve Azoulay added that we need a "contextualized approach" to human rights—meaning we should look at a country's specific history and level of development rather than using a one-size-fits-all rulebook. 📚📈

This seminar isn't a one-off event; it's been running since 2015, proving that keeping the conversation going is the best way to build a community with a shared future for humanity. Stay tuned as these dialogues continue to shape our global world! 🌟
