China Challenges Canada’s New Trade Tariffs at WTO ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ“ˆ

In a bold move, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Canada, citing concerns over the latter's recent trade protectionism practices. ๐ŸŒ

Canada imposed a 100% tariff on all Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs) including hybrids, trucks, and buses starting Tuesday. Additionally, a 25% surtax on select steel and aluminum imports from China is set to take effect on October 22. ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ๐Ÿš›

China has also launched an anti-discrimination probe targeting Canada's restrictive measures on certain Chinese imports. The Chinese Commerce Ministry argues that these actions undermine market economy principles and fair competition, severely impacting economic relations between the two nations and disrupting global supply chains. ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ’ฅ

Responding to the allegations, the ministry urged Canada to adhere to WTO rules and engage in rational bilateral trade cooperation. "China will take all necessary measures to firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises," the ministry stated. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
